YoUFA Board Member
To be a part of the YoUFA Board, please take a close look at the following credentials! Your job will be to support the development of the YoUFA Board (October 2009 to October 2010). This will include:
- Attend 3 Board meetings per year which are likely to be at the UFA offices in Birmingham however they may be situated elsewhere in the country and may include a residential.
- Agree the constitution and terms of reference for the YoUFA Board.
- Elect officers to carry out specific roles such as Chair, Secretary, etc.
- Endorse, ratify and contribute to Board proceedings.
- Engage with local UFA groups and YoUFA network to understand any current/live issues from around the UFA.
- Communicate decisions and provide regular updates for the UFA and the YoUFA network.
- Evaluate the progress of the YoUFA Board.
- Follow the policies and procedures of the UFA.
Personal Specification
Knowledge and Experience
- Experience of taking part in UFA activities at a local level (E.g. UFA Summer Challenges, Super Learning Days, UFA Clubs, Peer Tutoring, Lead Learner experience etc.)
- Understanding the UFA, its purpose, values and practices.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to act ethically and responsibly and be respectful of other young people’s ideas.
- Be self motivated, proactive and able to contribute to decisions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
- Ability to read Board papers, agenda’s, minutes etc.
- Confident with IT and using social networking software.
Desirable things are:
- You have a sense of humour!
YoUFA Representative (Phase 2)
Your job will be to support Phase 2 of the Learning Clubs project from start to finish (August 2009 – August 2010).
This will include:
- Supporting the Learning Clubs residential in August 2009 as co-facilitators and Peer Tutors
- Planning and co-facilitating the Regional Support Meeting for the Lead Learners and their Supporting Adults in your region (Autumn term 2009)
- Meeting the local and national network needs of the Learning Clubs Project(e.g. communication via telephone, email, website; celebrating and sharing news and information)
- Taking part in a support visit to a Learning Club with a member of the UFA team (Autumn 2009 or Spring term 2010)
- Attending and supporting a 2 day planning residential for the Learning Festival (Autumn term 2009)
- Co-facilitating the Learning Festival (Summer term 2010)
- Evaluating the Learning Festival and reporting on your findings (Summer 2010)
- Following the policies and procedures of the UFA
- Providing regular updates to a member of the National UFA Team
Person Specification
Your skills, knowledge and experience. Essential things are:
- You have been a Lead Learner or YoUFA Rep in Phase 1 (August 2008 to August 2009)
- You can work as part of a team and enjoy helping others
- You have taken part in some UFA activity
- You are well organised and can meet deadlines
- You have some Peer Tutoring experience (or similar)
Desirable things are:
- You have a sense of humour!
